On Wednesday, December 2, 2009, Croatian Sociological Association – Zadar Branch and Department of Sociology, University of Zadar have organized a public lecture given by mr. sc. Teo Matković (from the Chair of Social Policy, Law School Zagreb). The lecture was entitled „Social inequality in admission and finishing of higher education in Croatia”.

Working meeting of CSA Zadar Branch was held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at 7PM and new cycle oaf activites was agreed upon.

At the next meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 7PM Sven Marcelić and Krešimir Krolo will talk about media coverage of youth violence.

November activities will include both the book presentation and the talk on recently published translation of the Zygmunt Bauman’s book „Identity”, while in the following months few public lectures on student’s social origin and methodological workshops will be organized.

Sociological Thursday was held on May 28 2009 in room 203 at 19,00 with the topic of higher of education.

Introductary lectures werw held by Ratko Čorić who talked about K. P. Liessmann’s book „Theory of illiterateness”) and Sven Marcelić who talked about M. Priesching’s book „Bildungsideologien”.

Around 15 professors and students participated in nearly 2-hour long discussion.

Next Sociological Thursday was announced for June 25 2009.

First working meeting of Zadar Branch was held on April 23 2009 with the participation of 14 future and present members of Croatian Sociological Association. The participants agreed to meet ina regular monthly rythm at so called Sociological Thursdays. The first one was planned for May 28 2009.

Croatian edition of „Dictionary of Sociology” (2008, Jesenski i Turk) was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the main aula of University of Zadar.
