Predavanje zajedni\u010dki organiziraju Sekcija za sociologiju medija Hrvatskog sociolo\u0161kog dru\u0161tva<\/strong> and Centar za istra\u017eivanje medija i komunikacije na Fakultetu politi\u010dkih znanosti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O predava\u010du:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omar Al\u2019Ghazzi je izvanredni profesor na Odsjeku za medije i komunikaciju na London School of Economics and Political Science – LSE. Bavi se pitanjima geopolitike u globalnoj komunikaciji, posebno u vijestima i popularnoj kulturi. Njegov istra\u017eiva\u010dki interes usmjeren je na istra\u017eivanje narativa o digitalnim tehnologijama, te reprezentaciji vremena i sje\u0107anja, s fokusom na Bliski istok i Sjevernu Afriku. Objavljivao je u presti\u017enim \u010dasopisima kao \u0161to su Communication Theory, Journalism i International Journal of Communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa\u017eetak predavanja:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This talk centres the erasure of history in the reporting and mediation of the war in the Middle East. It examines the place of history in different modalities of the war\u2019s mediation, mainly in dominant Western political speech and news media coverage, the war\u2019s visuality on social media platforms, and Palestinian activism and solidarity movements. The analysis of the mediation of history, I show, is crucial for understanding the structural basis of atrocity and the role of media in concealing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
