Education and Teaching
Prof. dr. sc. Siniša Zrinščak was born in Pula in 1961. He began his academic career at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb, where he completed his studies in sociology in 1984. He obtained his master's degree in 1990, and his doctorate in the sociology of religion in 1998. The topic of his dissertation "Sociology of Religion in Croatia from 1945 to 1990 (development, controversies, achievements)" marked the beginning of an exceptional career. His reform of the Sociology course contributed to a better understanding of the connection between law and social phenomena. He also launched the first systematic survey of the employability of graduates of the Faculty of Law, which improved the quality of education and provided relevant information to the labor market.
Scientific Contributions
His expertise extends to the wider field of sociology, with a special emphasis on the sociology of religion. His research on the relationship between politics, religion human rights, refugees, and religion in Croatia and the region, and the connection between religion and gender left a lasting mark on the field of sociology. Zrinščak was a member, president, and vice-president of many domestic and international associations and organizations, including the Croatian Sociological Association, and was often the editor-in-chief or a member of the editorial boards of reputable scientific journals.
International Awards
Professor Zrinščak actively participates in various organizations and projects, such as the European Network of Experts in Gender Equality and the International Society for the Sociology of Religion. His expertise is recognized internationally.
