Education and Teaching

Ognjen Čaldarović graduated in 1971 and soon after enrolled in postgraduate studies in sociology, which he completed in 1977 by defending his master's thesis in urban sociology. Already in 1980, he received his doctorate at the University of Zagreb, also on the subject of urban sociology. Professor Čaldarović was twice the president of the Croatian Sociological Association.

Scientific Contributions

Professor Čaldarović is undeniably one of the most prolific Croatian sociologists. His research resulted in the publication of 13 authored scientific books, 7 co-authored scientific books, and the editing of 12 scientific books. He also contributed 62 chapters in books and anthologies, 106 papers in scientific and professional domestic and foreign journals, 62 research publications on conducted research, and 15 other papers, including translations, reviews, and reviews. Professor Čaldarović is a pioneer in the field of risk sociology in Croatia, researching residents' reactions such as nuclear power plants and technical systems. His in-depth analysis of risk phenomena and social reactions to them contributed to the understanding of this increasingly important aspect of modern society.

International Awards

Professor Čaldarović actively participated in numerous international scientific meetings and was an invited lecturer at many universities around the world, including the USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and many others. Also, his long-term research in urban studies, urbanism, and city planning has enriched the understanding of urban space and the participation of citizens in the decision-making process of urban projects. As a proven top lecturer and researcher, Professor Čaldarović built a bridge between theory and practice in sociology. His contribution to the understanding of society, the environment, and human behavior left an indelible mark on the domestic and international academic community.
